Workplace Safety Statistics in Northern Ireland

Approximately 9,000 workplace injuries occur in Northern Ireland each year, of which some 4,200 are reportable to the HSENI or a local council.

Given the statistics, the need for effective management of occupational safety and health care is clear:

  • 12 fatal injuries during 2010/11 (1)
  • 444 reported major injuries in 2010/11 (1)
  • 1,994 reported over three day injuries in 2010/11 (1)
