Peter Brown

Peter is currently the Head of the Policy Division within the Health and Safety Executive's Hazardous Installations Directorate. He has been a civil servant since 1987 holding a wide variety of posts in the Department of Employment and HSE including work related to health and safety within the construction, offshore, chemicals, mining, public administration and railway sectors.

Ian Bucknell - Treasurer

Ian is RoSPA’s Honorary Treasurer and trained as an engineer before qualifying as a Chartered Accountant. He has spent most of his career working in the property and marketing industries working with amongst others CBRE, Bertelsmann and Saatchi and Saatchi until he joined Asthma UK in 2002. He was operations director there responsible for finance, property, IT and HR until his retirement in 2012. He continues to consult, mainly on charity governance.

Yvonne Doyle

Yvonne qualified as a doctor in Ireland in 1981. She has worked in the NHS, the private and academic sectors in the UK since 1989 and has 19 years of board level experience as a public health and a medical director. Her work at leadership level in public health has led to 15 years of close working with local and regional government. In 2010, she was seconded to the Department of Health to support the development of Public Health England, alongside her other public health roles. In March 2012 she was appointed to the role of Director of Public Health for NHS South of England. In April 2013, she was appointed to the role of Director Public Health England (London) where she responsible for working with key partners to both protect and improve the health of all Londoners.

As technical adviser to the World Health Organization Yvonne led work on European Healthy Cities and has advised the World Economic Forum, the EU and the World Bank on the public health aspects of population ageing. She is currently the public health adviser to the Mayor of London.

Yvonne is a trustee of the Royal Society of the Prevention of Accidents and a member of the major grants committee of The Guy's & St Thomas' Charity. She is also a fellow of the Institute of Directors.

Michael Hampson - Chairman

Michael Hampson joined National Express Group Plc in January 2012 as General Counsel and Company Secretary. Prior to this he has held the position of General Counsel and Company Secretary at Whitbread plc, RMC Group plc and Charter International plc; he was also the Director of Corporate Development at Anglian Water Group plc. He is a barrister and chartered secretary.

Dr Don Lloyd

Don Lloyd is Health, Safety & Environment Director and Executive Committee member with Genel Energy plc based in Ankara. Previously he was Group Senior Vice President HSSE & Asset Integrity with BG Group. Previously he worked at Shell, Total, British Nuclear Fuels and Amersham plc. He is a Professor of Risk Management & Corporate Responsibility at Brunel University, Chair of the Brunel Business School External Advisory Board and an Independent Board Safety Adviser for NATS (UK Air Traffic Control Services) Group.

Don is a Chemical Engineering graduate with Masters degrees in Environmental Management (UMIST), Sustainability (University of Cambridge) and a PhD in Risk Management (University of Manchester).

Born in South Wales, Jocelyn graduated in Management Science from the University of Kent at Canterbury. Her career in fmcg marketing spans multiple food and beverage categories in the UK, Europe and Australia, and she is a former marketing director at consumer goods giants Kraft Foods and Danone.

She now runs her own consultancy business and has a portfolio of non-executive and charitable roles and is a Governor of the University of West of England (UWE)

Jocelyn is married with three fast growing children and lives in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.

Mary trained initially in general medicine and later, in public health at St Thomas’ Hospital. As Deputy Director of the Communicable Disease Surveillance Centre, she had national responsibility for leading investigations into major outbreaks of infections, including water and food-borne diseases. Post graduate multi-disciplinary training in epidemiology, both in the UK and Europe was a particular interest. In the Department of Health with lead responsibility for infections, she played a key part in developing a national strategy for infectious diseases, modernising environmental emergency response as well as initiating intervention programmes such as that for tackling hospital acquired infections.

Mary is actively engaged in the voluntary sector. She is a trustee and Chair of the General Grants Committee of Imperial College Healthcare Charity and is a Council Member of the Association of NHS Charities. She is also a mentor in two local secondary schools.

Michael D Parker, CBE - Vice Chairman

Mike Parker was born in Liverpool and received a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Manchester and an MBA from the Manchester Business School.

He began his career with Dow in 1968. During his career with the company he was based in the US, UK, Switzerland and Hong Kong. He became President and Chief Executive Officer of The Dow Chemical Company in Midland, Michigan, USA in 2000 and was a member of the company’s Board of Directors from 1995 to 2003.

He was appointed Group Chief Executive of BNFL (British Nuclear Fuels), a UK government owned company in August 2003; at the end of June 2009 he finished this role following the successful dismantling and privatisation of the company.

Mike joined the Invensys Board as a Non-Executive Director in 2006 and subsequently became the Senior Independent Director. He is a member of the Nominations Committee, Audit Committee & Remuneration Committee.

Until November 2012 Mike was Chairman of Liverpool’s economic development and regeneration company, Liverpool Vision - having been appointed as Chairman designate in October 2007. Mike remains involved with Liverpool; Chair of the BioCampus Board for the Royal Liverpool University Hospital and is on the Alder Hey Children's Charity Capital Appeal Board.

He became a Trustee of the Royal Society for Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) in 2009, currently Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Audit Committee and a member of the Remuneration Committee.

Mike joined PV Crystalox Solar Board as Non-Executive Director in 2010, he is the Senior Independent Director as well as a member of the Nominations Committee, Chairman Audit Committee & Chairman Remuneration Committee.

In 2010 Mike joined SNC-Lavalin (Canada) as a Non-Executive Director and is a member of the Governance Committee, Project Review Committee and Chairman of the Health & Safety Security and Environment Committee.

In 2011 Mike was appointed as Chairman of Street League, a national charity that utilises football to engage with inactive 16-25 year olds. Also a member of the Finance Committee.

In 2012 he became a Trustee of the Energy Institute and Chairman of the Strategy Review Group.

He is also a member of the Manchester Business School Advisory Board.

Mike was awarded a CBE in the New Year Honours 2009 for services to the energy industry.
