RoSPA Annual Review 2022/23

Welcome to RoSPA’s Annual Review 2022/23

The year 2022-23 witnessed RoSPA's global influence increase, driven by a more data-centric approach and strategic partnerships. This gave us the opportunity to lead more conversations in pursuit of our mission to reduce accidental injuries worldwide.

Our digital footprint expanded significantly, with improved engagement on social media and our website. We introduced new e-learning courses and web resources, alongside a successful series of webinars.

RoSPA Qualifications, our subsidiary, extended its offerings in regulated, customised, and international qualifications, reinforcing our commitment to workplace and driving safety. And notably, our collaboration with Field Consulting UK earned us the prestigious 2022 PRCA Public Affairs Award for Best In-house Consultancy Collaboration.

Our key highlights of the year:

  • Preventing Falls: The Falls Charitable Appeal, launched in May, garnered widespread support, empowering  organisations to educate employees about fall prevention.
  • Protect Our People Campaign: A pivotal effort to amend the Retained EU Law Bill, rallying support from industry allies and MPs.
  • Road Safety: RoSPA played a central role in shaping national policy through consultations, research, and guidance. Highlights included the virtual RoSPA Excellence in Road Safety Conference.
  • Home Safety Advocacy: RoSPA continued to champion home safety, particularly among vulnerable groups. Notable initiatives included the Safe and Secure battery safety campaign and the #SafeFashion campaign.
  • Water and Leisure Safety: Focused efforts on reducing drowning incidents through campaigns, advice, and audits. The Respect The Water campaign reached over 50 million people in the UK.
  • Play Safety: RoSPA's Play Safety team conducted inspections and risk assessments to ensure children's safety in playgrounds. The virtual Play Safety Conference 2023 addressed the critical aspect of managing timber.
  • Workplace Safety Leadership: RoSPA exerted significant influence in occupational safety and health through the prestigious RoSPA Health and Safety Awards, held in London, Cheshire, and Dubai.

We are proud to have had Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as our Royal Patron for 70 years. Her passing in September 2022 was a poignant moment for RoSPA, marked by a period of reflection and remembrance. At RoSPA, our steadfast commitment is to create a world free from accidental injury, and with the support of our dedicated members, this vision remains at the heart of all that we do.
