The RoSPA Collection

A recently discovered collection of historical RoSPA safety posters will go on public display for the first time alongside the RoSPA Awards at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel. The exhibition will feature 40 iconic posters dating from the 1930s to the 1970s, covering all aspects of safety. They form part of a collection of more than 700 historical posters and artwork for posters that RoSPA discovered last year.

Among the famous artists who produced artwork for the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents during this period were Tom Eckersley, Leonard Cusden and the cartoonist George Smith, better known as Gus.

Due to the delicacy of the posters, they have been reproduced photographically to ensure they can be exhibited safely.

It will be in the Warwick Suite and will be open from 11.30am-4pm on May 15, and 10am-4pm on May 16 and May 17.

Some of the images will be available to purchase at the exhibition.
