In 1976 Eve commenced work as a health and safety professional with a small privately owned construction company, based in Lancashire. She relocated to North Lincolnshire in 1980 and began working for Hinton and Higgs UK limited, where she worked on a variety of contracts, including the construction of the famous Humber Bridge. Eve thoroughly enjoyed the work with the consultancy service which she found both challenging and rewarding!
After eight years, Eve joined the safety services team at Hull City Council. Within a year she became the Chief Safety Officer and had the pleasure of working with a dynamic corporate management team who embraced health and safety. With the introduction of many new systems Hull City Council became one of the top performing councils where Eve stayed for eight years.
Due to Government reorganisation in 1996 and the introduction of unitary authorities, Eve applied for and was successful in becoming the Safety Services Manager, for the East Riding of Yorkshire Council. During this period the safety services team has introduced a comprehensive range of health and safety strategies and the council is rated as an excellent authority!
