Multi-site Retailers
RoSPA champions a pragmatic approach to managing health and safety. We believe that accident prevention should be proportionate to the risks posed, and that the cost of high levels of intervention cannot necessarily be justified. Instead, we offer affordable safety solutions that tackle the real issues.
Option One
We have developed the following service specifically to meet the needs of multi-site retailers. It is a flexible, practical solution that uniquely enables RoSPA to provide local support (at local prices), via a network of approved consultants. This means that while individual stores benefit from access to a local presence that is easily available and on hand to help, your organisation as a whole has the peace of mind that comes from partnering with RoSPA, the country's leading safety organisation.
1. Premises Inspection
The RoSPA Consultant visits stores to carry out an initial premises inspection. Areas covered include:
- Awareness and communication of roles and responsibilities
- Presence of up to date training records, fire drill records, accident book, first aid kit etc.
- Relevant risk assessments
- Hazard reporting procedures.
This service is charged at just £500/day.
Up to three stores within a region can be visited in a single day, making an Independent RoSPA Safety Inspection available for just £167/store.
2. Written Report
The RoSPA Consultant provides written feedback to outline store performance in relation to HSG65 'Successful Health and Safety Management', (the standard followed by HSE Inspectors). This determines the store's risk rating, which in turn determines the review frequency.
This feedback in the report incorporates a phased action plan with suggested timescales for improvement where required.
It can be used to bench marks between sites, regions and over time.
3. Continual Improvement
Premises inspections and feedback reports can then form the basis for a cycle of continuous improvement, whereby they can be linked to RoSPA’s main audit scheme, benchmarked against industry averages and be eligible for RoSPA’s prestigious Occupational Safety Awards.
Option Two
Alternatively, RoSPA recognises that organisations with sufficient internal manpower and expertise may prefer to train auditors from within their own staff.
With this in mind, we can provide a training course and software package which leads to RoSPA Approved Auditor Status. The course covers the skills and practices of effective auditing, including knowledge and understanding of HSG65, experience of auditing safety management systems and competence in the implementation of the audit system. The course also trains delegates in the use of RoSPA's audit software, which is designed to facilitate quick and efficient auditing and reporting.
This is an extremely cost effective option as courses can be carried out in your premises, and include licences for use of the RoSPA software.
Consultancy Costs
Costs for consultancy in the United Kingdom
Our standard day rate for consultancy if £750 +VAT per day, plus travel and accommodation expenses.
However, for consultancy within the UK RoSPA again propose a sliding scale, whereby the cost per day of consultancy falls as more days are purchased, providing that work is booked as a 'block of time'. Cost are again plus VAT:
- Up to 10 days = £695/day
- 11-20 days per annum = £625/day
- 21-40 days per annum = £550/day
- 41-100 days per annum = to be agreed
- 100 plus days per annum = to be agreed
Travel time, and travel and accommodation costs would be in addition to the above and would be agreed on a case-by-case basis.
Costs for consultancy outside the United Kingdom
- Up to 10 days = £850/day
- 11-20 days per annum = £795/day
