RoSPA Advanced Tests
Taking and passing the RoSPA Advanced Driving/Motorcycling Test is the ultimate achievement in on-road driving, ensuring that the effort and skills attained are independently measured and appropriately rewarded.
A pass at Gold standard represents a tremendous achievement. It should be a goal for all professional and company drivers and riders. The RoSPA Advanced Test lasts for one and a half hours, and is conducted on all types of roads by Police Class One drivers or riders. Passes are graded Gold, Silver and Bronze and a pass at any level places the successful candidate in the classification of well above average.
Research shows that Advanced Drivers and Riders enjoy a reduced risk of accident involvement.
In order to maintain this high standard, members must take a refresher test every three years. This ensures that risk remains low throughout a driving or riding lifetime. Candidates who fail to achieve a grade can take one further test free of charge. The examiner will discuss a candidate's performance at the end of the test and subsequently a detailed written report on all aspects of the drive or ride will be sent to the candidate or, if appropriate, to the employer.
RoSPA Advanced Drivers and Riders' national network of local groups can provide assistance and advice for candidates.
- The standards are monitored and approved by the Driving Standards Agency
- A BTEC vocational qualification is available for passing the test
