Driver CPC Theory Workshop for PCV/LGV Drivers
By concentrating on the theory that underpins competent driving on today's roads this Driver CPC Workshop provides a cost effective means to improve the driving abilities of all employees.
The course uses hard hitting film clips and interactive activities to encourage the development of a positive attitude to driving, whilst generating an understanding of how personal factors can affect performance.
Course Summary
Clients can pick two modules from the menu below, allowing them to concentrate on the specific issues that face their organisation rather than taking part in a generic theory session.
- Module 1: Principles of defensive driving, fatigue, stress, vehicle checks, winter driving, summer driving
- Module 2: Driving dynamics, eco driving, speed awareness, attitude, overtaking, parking and manoeuvring
- Module 3: Vehicle checks, attitude, fit to drive, post incident
- Module 4: Accidents – what if it happens, accidents – how to manage hazards, overloading – legality, o-licence compliance – drivers' responsibilities, authorities and roadside checks
- Module 5: Fit to drive, post incident, licence check/validity
- Module 6: Accidents- what if it happens, accidents - after it happens, how to manage hazards, authorities and roadside checks, journey planning - how do you get there
- Module 7: Loading and towing, banksman and occupational parking, authorities and roadside checks, overloading – legality.

Who should attend?
Drivers of LGV and PCV's and are required to complete 35 hours of Driver CPC training.

Course objectives
This workshop aims to provide cost effective means to improve the driving ability of all employees by concentrating on the theory that underpins competent driving on today's roads.
Delegates should develop a positive attitude to driving and gain an understanding of how personal factors can affect performance.
Successful completion of the course allows delegates to apply for entry onto the DSA Register of Post Test Motorcycle Trainers (RPMT)
Who should attend?
All professional bus drivers, coach drivers and LGV drivers that are required by law to complete 35 hours of Driver CPC over 5 years.
Additional information
You must inform us prior to booking if you want this course as a CPC option. Driver licence details will be required in advance.
Drivers must bring BOTH parts of their driving licence to the course. Drivers with the old style licence must bring this along with photo ID.
