UK Familiarisation Driving Course

This course has been designed to address the needs of the growing number of drivers on the road unused to driving in the UK. On completion of the course delegates will be better able to avoid an accident and navigate safely and confidently following this familiarisation training.

Course objectives
This course aims to introduce delegates to the Highway Code and driving on British roads so that they can navigate themselves safely and with confidence.

By the end of this course delegates should:

  • Have a good knowledge of the Highway Code and the laws, rules and regulations when driving on British roads
  • Understand road signs and markings
  • Understand how to react to signals at roundabouts and pedestrian crossings
  • Be able to negotiate box junctions and crossings with traffic lights
  • Be aware of general defensive driving principles and techniques

Who should attend?
Anyone who has not driven on British roads, or feels they lack the confidence to drive on British roads due to their experience being limited to driving on foreign roads.
All delegates should be familiar with the latest edition of the Highway Code.

Additional information
The course runs on a 2:1 delegate to trainer ratio (delegate ratios may vary depending on vehicle type).
This course may take place at RoSPA’s driver training centre in Birmingham, or can be taken at customers’ premises.
