Course summary

This is a practical, hands-on two-day course conducted on a superbly exacting course where even the most experienced driver will be suitably challenged.
What does the course involve?
- Recognising a safe working environment
- Assessing ground conditions
- Preparing and performing the necessary maintenance checks to ensure the safety of the vehicle
- Route planning
- The safe operation of a vehicle in a variety of off-road conditions
- An understanding of the dangers involved in vehicle recovery
- How to get out of difficult situations, read the tract for danger points, and cope with a range of problematic terrain including mud, water, loose surfaces, steep hillsides and very rough roads.

Course objectives
Delegates will leave with a lasting knowledge of the control and technique needed for driving a 4x4 vehicle, as well as knowledge of assessing and managing risk.
Delegates will learn how to:
- Recognise a safe working environment
- Assess ground conditions
- Prepare and perform necessary maintenance checks to ensure safety of vehicle
- Route plan
- Safely operate a 4x4 vehicle in a variety of off-road conditions
- Understand the dangers involved in vehicle recovery

This practical, hands-on driving course is conducted on a superb course where even the most experienced driver will be challenged.
It would be an advantage to be familiar with the vehicle controls. Customers must supply their own vehicles.
The course is run on a 3:1 delegate to trainer ratio.
