Road Safety Engineering - Certificate of Competence
The European Directive on Road Infrastructure Management requires that road safety Auditors working on the Trans European Road Network (TERN) will need to undergo road safety engineering training resulting in the award of a Certificate of Competence. This will become a legal requirement for auditors by December 2013.
RoSPA/TMS are offering delegates attending the Road Safety Engineering course the opportunity to obtain a certificate of competence.
Those wishing to take up this option will attend week one of the Road Safety Engineering Course, on the final afternoon they will sit a multiple choice knowledge test.
Certificate of Competence course delegates will then attend the first two days of week two, during which time they will analyse collision data and visit the collision location. They will then leave the course and write up the study report as individuals. They will subsequently submit this report, along with a completed Safety Audit report, to the course tutors for assessment.
Successful candidates will be awarded a Certificate of Competence. The remaining delegates will be awarded a Certificate of Attendance. Both certificates will comply with existing Highways Agency training requirements within HD 19/03 for safety audit.
