2011 RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards

Scheme nominated as finalist in two categories at the UK Event Awards 2011.

Shortlisted alongside dedicated event production agencies and major brands, RoSPA's Occupational Health and Safety Awards scheme is a finalist in two categories at the UK Event Awards 2011.

About the scheme

The RoSPA scheme is the largest and longest-running occupational safety awards programme in the UK, and is managed entirely in-house by RoSPA. At the 2011 UK Event Awards, the scheme was a nominated finalist in the below categories:

  • Business to Business or Leisure/Consumer: Best Awards Scheme
  • Best Cause-Related/Charity Event category

Since they began in 1956, RoSPA's awards have been a key fixture in the health and safety calendar, offering organisations an unrivalled opportunity to prove their ongoing commitment to the prevention of accidents and ill health at work.

Record-breaking year

The scheme once again broke records in 2011, with 1,900 entries from organisations in the UK and around the world. Most of the winners received their awards during three days of presentation ceremonies and gala dinners (each of which sat nearly 1,000 people) at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel in May. A separate regional ceremony and dinner is also held every year in Scotland in September.

What's more, because RoSPA is a charity, income generated by 2011's record-breaking year is ploughed back into its mission to save lives and reduce injuries.

Scheme and events fully managed in-house by RoSPA

With RoSPA's Awards managed and produced entirely in-house by a team consisting of fewer than 10 people, the two nominations well and truly punched above their weight. Fellow finalists in the scheme's categories were all produced by dedicated event agencies such as Grass Roots Group Plc, or sizable in-house production teams at large brands such as O2.

“We are delighted to have made the shortlist in two categories at the UK Event Awards. We know the RoSPA Awards are already held in very high esteem, but these nominations are a massive boost for our small team which works tirelessly from one year to the next to ensure the scheme continues to go from strength to strength.

"We are proud that all aspects of the RoSPA Awards - from launch, registration and judging, to the staging of four presentation ceremonies - are managed by our in-house team, which also organises more than 20 other conferences and events each year for both RoSPA and external clients."
