Feasibility of establishing a UK-wide injury databaseFINAL REPORT : December 2008 Background A year-long study was commissioned jointly by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), the Electrical Safety Council (ESC) and Intertek RAM, and supported by the Department of Health, to research the feasibility of setting up a new, UK-wide injury surveillance system that could be used to facilitate the prevention of accidental injury by providing data for research, policy development, injury prevention programmes, risk assessment and product development . The partners are grateful for additional funding from the British Aerosol Manufacturers’ Association (BAMA) and UK Cleaning Products (UKCPI). The findings of the study, entitled Feasibility of Establishing a UK Wide Injury Database, are available here. Based on the findings of the research, the Department of Health has agreed to instigate a pilot study to explore how information about people visiting hospital after an accident might best be collected.
