Raising standards – BSI's Consumer and Societal Policy Unit seeks help
Could your experience improve consumer protection and prevent consumer detriment? BSI's Consumer and Societal Policy Unit is currently recruiting more consumer representatives. We want new representatives to sit on existing technical committees in traditional areas such as product specification. We also want representatives who can get involved in ground breaking work in the standards field, looking at how standards might be used in current areas of consumer detriment, particularly in the services area. BSI's Consumer Policy Committee Through its consumer policy activities BSI aims to ensure that the interests of all consumers are properly considered, taking into account the needs of children, older people, people with disabilities and different ethnic groups. We co-ordinate a group of approximately 60 consumer volunteers and representatives from consumer organizations who input directly to standards development and standards policy at national and international levels. Recruiting for representatives Volunteering as a BSI Consumer Representative is one way of contributing to a better framework of societal and consumer protection for everyone.
