Window Locks

RoSPA recommends that windows above the ground floor are fitted with locks or stays to prevent children falling out. Child safety window barriers can also provide children with a similar level of protection from falls from windows.

RoSPA recommends that when keys are used to lock windows, that the keys are easily accessible for use in emergencies.

Finger Trapping Hazard

RoSPA recommends that parents and carers fit devices to doors of family dwellings that will reduce the risk of children trapping their fingers.

NB The policy does not apply to fire doors which are spring loaded and need to be shut to be effective.
