Implementing Home Safety Checks

New!Research has shown that safety advice given directly to families and older people in their own homes reduces accidental injury. A growing number of organisations now understand that identifying hazards and the risks to families and individuals within their own home can be more effective then the delivery of generic safety information alone. This two day course is accredited to City & Guilds and there is an optional assessment, at no extra cost, for those delegates seeking accreditation from a nationally recognised awarding body. City & GuildsWho should attend:
New and existing practitioners of home safety checks will find this course invaluable. The course is designed for home safety officers and community and voluntary workers with a home accident prevention remit. Ideally delegates will have previously attended our Child Safety or Older People Safety in the Home one day course.

What will they learn:
This course focuses on the identification of behavioural and environmental hazards in the home and the risk to families and individuals. Course content includes:
● Effective communication techniques (verbal and non-verbal)
● Delivering home safety advice within the home environment
● Practical and realistic accident prevention methods
● Risk assessment in the home environment
● Training on the use of a home safety checklist
● Case studies and practical sessions in the use of the checklist
