Usually single parent families in receipt of a passport benefit. E-mail: pam.walters@swansea.gov.uk Safe and Sound Roadshows“Safe and Sound Roadshows” took place in 25 venues across South Wales last year. South Wales Fire and Rescue Service arranged a series of 25 roadshows in conjunction with local trading standards officers and other organisations providing the over 60s with a one stop venue for safety and other information. Among the partners involved were the Benefits Agency, South East Wales Energy Advice Centre, Care and Repair, RoSPA, the Police, Pension Service, "Keep Warm, Keep Well", Age Concern and local Health Alliances. It was supported by Firebrake Wales and the Welsh Assembly Government. Around 1700 people attended, 947 blankets were checked of which 61.2% were found to be unsafe and 474 new blankets were issued. Consumer advice was given and agencies involved were able to follow up on numerous queries including security issues, smoke alarms, home safety audits.
