Inspector Training

18/02/10

As part of their regular update training RoSPA inspectors visited Kilkenny Country Park at Carterton for further update training on natural play issues. RoSPA ensures that all its inspectors receive regular update training on all relevant play issues and this visit was part of that ongoing programme.

RoSPA goes that extra mile

22/01/10

Argyll Community Housing Association (ACHA) is a Registered Social Landlord providing over 5000 affordable homes for rent across 12 islands and in every major settlement in Argyll and Bute. They aim to be a modern Landlord of choice in Argyll and Bute by meeting housing needs and providing high quality services. From the beginning, RoSPA Playsafety has been involved in providing play area site inspections and training. We have provided training for key staff in many areas; when your business involves such rural locations it is important to have well trained staff to ensure a high standard of health and safety.

When ACHA needed a play area inspected on the island of Tiree our local inspector, Bob Wallace, jumped at the chance to visit another Hebridean island. He was expecting a ferry journey however, due to time and weather problems, he found flying with Highland Airways was not only cheaper, but enabled him to complete the job in one day. The flights from Oban provide a valuable service not only for business, but many local children fly to secondary school each week! One of the joys of island life is the isolation, but to keep the communities vibrant they need these modern transport links. Tiree is still a predominantly crofting community, but is also renowned as a windsurfing centre.

A short flight on an Islander aircraft of just over an hour, with a brief stop on Coll, and Bob was able to walk to the play area at Crossapol village. He could then inspect the play area, walk on the spectacular beach, have lunch in the local Auction mart, and fly back to Oban - report done and ready for the client next day.

Scottish play inspections usually involve lots of travel, usually by road or ferry, but Bob has also had to fly to Stornoway on the Island of Lewis to do a training course and to Galway in Ireland for an indoor play inspection needed by a client in a hurry. So wherever you are, we will do our very best to reach you.

Playbuilder Scheme and Natural Play Areas

16/11/09

There has been a recent increase in the development of natural play areas encouraged by the government funded Playbuilder and Pathfinder schemes. Natural play areas provide less structure and therefore encourage more physical and creative challenges. With our world-wide experience, there are a number of ways in which we can help you get the best out of your Playbuilder or Pathfinder funding and create a fun and exciting natural play area. From design to completion, our inspectors are willing to help. If you have more than one play area being developed through the Playbuilder or Pathfinder schemes, you may be able to receive bulk booking discounts. For more information, visit the Natural Play Areas page.

06/11/09

The RoSPA training dates for 2010 have been announced. They can be found on our training pages. If you would like to book a course, please complete the relevant booking form and return it to our training manager Keiron Taylor. If you have a number of employees who require training, why not speak to Keiron Taylor about the possibility of arranging a training course on your own premises at your convenience? Don’t forget, if you have RoSPA annual inspections, you may be eligible to receive discounts against the cost of a course.

RoSPA are the leading providers of play safety training and have trained the majority of operational and annual inspectors who are registered with the RPII.

Client satisfaction is always high with RoSPA

20/10/09

Each month we randomly select a number of clients to complete a Customer Satisfaction Survey; the results of which are always very high. 93% of our customers agree that RoSPA inspection reports are clear consistent and usable and 100% of them said that queries relating to reports were dealt with to their satisfaction. Here are just a couple of customer comments that we have received in 2009:

"Your service is always very prompt, professional & helpful" (Mid Suffolk District Council)
"I like the book format which I take around on my inspections to refer to" (Totton & Eling Town Council)
"Very fast replies to emails by Glynn who solved the problem rapidly!" (Bucklebury Farm Parks)

We are very grateful to our clients who complete these surveys and each one is read. We take your comments seriously and are continually trying to improve our services for everyone.

New Northern Training Venue

25/09/09

Due to the popularity of our training courses, we have recently obtained a new training venue in the north of England to cope with increasing demand. In conjunction with the Bury Metropolitan Borough Council, we will now be running regular training courses at Nuttall Park, Bury. Every year we train hundreds of delegates to undertake routine and operational inspections of play areas. This can be vital in spotting faults early and preventing accidents which could in turn improve the results of an annual inspection.
