Free water safety resource for 7-11 year olds

Water Safety – Don’t go in!Water Safety Image: Jim the River Inspector

The Environment Agency, supported by RoSPA and Cambridgeshire Police Constabulary have produced a new free resource on raising water safety awareness. The interactive CD-ROM is aimed at 7-11 year olds, and aims to encourage children to enjoy our river environment in a sensible and safe manner.

Guided by Joe the River Inspector, children can explore the river and learn about its hidden dangers, and how to seek help. Topics that are covered include dangerous structures, hidden objects in the water and powerful water currents.

The CD contains downloadable photographs, video clips, colouring posters, quizzes, information sheets, and links to other useful websites.  The CD, Don’t Go In, has been sent to all primary and middle schools, youth and community groups in the Anglian region, and more copies can be obtained from the Environment Agency's National Customer Contact Centre on 08708 506506.

Thefree resource is now available online.
