It is reported that 5% of serious injuries are assessed as “at work” with a further 15% commuting. The car the most common vehicle involved, followed by vans, lorries. Information is gathered through the National Injury Register-patients treated with an injury-specific question about activity at time of incident and mode of transport. There are no specific requirements regarding health and safety management of those exposed to risk from on-the-road work activities. There are only general regulations irrespective of the workplace and driver training is regulated by type of vehicle rather than the use of the vehicle.
