RELAX…RoSPA TAKES THE STRAIN FROM WORK AND THE SHOW

Visitors to RoSPA’s stand at Safety and Health Expo 2002 will not only learn how to beat stress in the workplace, they will also be given a relaxing massage to help them enjoy the rest of the show.

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents is one of the major exhibitors at the event at the NEC, Birmingham May 13-16. As well as promoting its renowned training courses and consultancy services, RoSPA staff will be explaining the importance of relaxation.

Visitors will be offered a chance to try a chair massage provided by Relaxez-Vous of Birmingham. Di Preece, RoSPA events manager, said: “We know that no matter how interesting big exhibitions are, they can also be very tiring. We hope people will take the chance to refresh themselves in the chair which provides acupressure to the shoulders, neck and head.

“Stress can also be a massive problem in the workplace. RoSPA runs courses to show employers how to beat the problem and help their employees avoid injuries.”

People will be able to win a one-day training course on stress management if they take part in the free prize draw at the stand. If they prefer, they can choose one of RoSPA’s other one-day courses as a prize instead.

Visitors who sign up for one-year RoSPA membership will be given the first three months free.

The Society will be giving details of courses including risk assessment, managing occupational road risk, abrasive wheel setters, COSHH (the control of substances hazardous to health) and, of course, managing stress.

RoSPA provides training and consultancy services for business and organisations worldwide – no matter how large or small. It has an extensive range of safety products including videos, posters and publications.

Running alongside Safety and Health Expo 2002 will be the RoSPA National Occupational Safety and Health at Work Congress “Sharpening the Focus on Performance”.

The Society will also be staging its annual Occupational Safety and Health Awards presentations at the Birmingham Hilton Metropole Hotel, May 15-16. More than 1,000 businesses and organisations from the UK and around the world have won safety awards this year.
