RoSPA’S NEW MAN FOCUSES ON FLEET SAFETY
Charles Davis is the new man in charge of developing RoSPA’s links with the fleet business.
He joins the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents at a crucial time for the fleet industry, as the issue of tackling work-related road accidents is now firmly on the political agenda.
As Head of RoSPA’s Driver and Fleet Solutions Department, he is keen to expand the Society’s work on Managing Occupational Road Risk – MORR.
He said: “RoSPA has made everyone in the fleet industry aware of MORR through its pioneering work in this field. My aim is to help employers embrace the concept without fear so that they realise it not only prevents accidents, but also benefits their business as a whole.
“I am eager to have discussions with fleet operators to help RoSPA to continue providing them with the training and information that is relevant to their needs.”
With nearly 20 years experience as a police traffic officer, he is a grade one police driver and motorcycle rider. A former member of West Midlands Police firearms operations unit, he has also specialised in the safe escorting of royalty and VIPs.
More recently he has run his own motorcycle training business. He formed the National Association of Advanced Motorcycle Instructors last year.
Previously Regional Senior Examiner with RoSPA, he has instructed and examined for the Society’s car and motorcycle diploma courses.
He also has responsibility for RoADA groups – RoSPA’s network of advanced driver and rider groups throughout the country.
Charles takes over from Kevin Birch, who retired recently. Kevin will still work for the Society as a consultant and senior examiner for the Midlands.
