| 11/10/04 : MPs URGED TO BACK BILL TO CHANGE TIME AND SAVE LIVES |
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents is urging the House of Commons to support a Bill on Friday (October 15) aimed at saving 450 deaths and serious injuries on Britain’s road each year. Nigel Beard MP’s Ten-Minute-Rule Bill will be having its second reading and if successful would bring lighter evenings all year round. RoSPA says road safety would be greatly improved by his plan to move clocks forward by an hour throughout the year. Full Story»

RoSPA is staging a seminar to show employers how to enhance their ability to learn vital lessons by investigating accidents thoroughly. Accidents cost individuals suffering and businesses and organisations time and money. Recent guidance from the Health and Safety Executive has challenged organisations to review how well they are complying with their duties to investigate and learn from accidents and incidents. The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents today urged UK bosses to back a campaign aimed at saving lives by cutting the amount of time employees spend on the road. The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents has developed a course to help teachers understand the necessity of risk management in schools and on educational trips and visits. | 17/09/04 : NEW ON-LINE CHECK FOR COMPANY DRIVERS |
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents has launched a new weapon in the fight to reduce the number of work-related road crashes. RoSPA has teamed up with Creative Training Online Ltd to produce an on-line risk assessment tool for employees who drive as part of their job. It is available at three different levels and uses material that has either been approved or endorsed by the Driving Standards Agency. Full Story»

| 17/09/04 : SCOTTISH FIRM WINS TOP RoSPA SAFETY AWARD |
More than 130 businesses and organisations have been honoured at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents annual Occupational Health and Safety Awards in Scotland. RoSPA’s top occupational health and safety award for Scotland went to FMC Technologies Ltd of Dunfermline. The award is for the highest standard of occupational health and safety performance by an organisation based and operating in Scotland. Earlier this year, FMC won the UK’s premier occupational safety award, the Sir George Earle Trophy. Full Story»
