ADVANCED DRIVING SUCCESS FOR BELFAST BRANCH
Palmer and Harvey McLane, winners of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents award for managing occupational road risk, have clocked up another success – all large goods vehicle drivers at their Belfast branch have passed the RoSPA Advanced Driving Test.
The 12 drivers for the wholesale and distribution company in Northern Ireland all volunteered to take the test and were delighted with their success.
Charles Davis, RoSPA Head of Driver and Fleet Solutions, said: “Advanced drivers have been shown to have fewer accidents. Passing the test proves they can put into practice the things they have been taught during driver training.
“The RoSPA test has to be retaken every three years for people to retain their advanced-driver status and this encourages them to maintain the highest standards possible.
“Some companies require drivers to take the advanced test as part of their efforts to reduce work-related road accidents.”
P&H are based in Hove and have a fleet of 900 trucks and 450 cars. They have halved their accident rate in recent years and in May were presented with the RoSPA award for managing occupational road risk for the second year running.
