CHANCE TO LEARN ABOUT SAFETY GROUPS UK

As part of its mission to become a key player in the health and safety system, Safety Groups UK will be exhibiting at Safety & Health Expo.

Expo is Europe’s leading annual health and safety exhibition and runs from May 22 to 24.

Safety Groups UK is the co-ordinating body for a network of 80 occupational health and safety groups spread around the country. Groups provide a local forum for communicating health and safety information nationwide and offer help to employers, particularly small businesses.

Anyone who is not a member of a group is being urged to visit the organisation’s stand at the NEC, Birmingham, to find out more.

The Health and Safety Executive funded a report to find ways to boost the safety groups movement so that it could play a greater role in delivering key health and safety messages at grass roots level.

In the last year, in association with the HSE and the British Safety Industry Federation, Safety Groups UK has developed the DERM project with the slogan: “Prevent Work-Related Dermatitis. It’s in Your Hands”. A simple information pack has been produced to help businesses to manage work-related dermatitis and seminars are also being organised.

As part of their partnership agreement with the HSE, groups also supported the campaign to reduce back injuries in the workplace.
