April 25 , 2007
EUROPEAN HONOUR FOR RoSPA DIRECTOR

Janice Cave, Director of Public Affairs at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, has been made an Honorary Member of the European Public Health Alliance.

Janice is only the third person to receive the accolade from the Brussels-based alliance of 100 European non-governmental and other not-for-profit organisations working in support of health.

The presentation of the award was made at a reception in the Primate's Palace in Bratislava, Slovakia, where EPHA was holding a conference on "Health in the Enlarged EU".

President of EPHA for the last three years, Janice had also served on the executive board for eight years.

She has now retired from the presidency and her citation read: "In recognition of her many years of distinguished service in the field of public health in Europe."

Janice said: “I was delighted to accept honorary membership as it is vital that accident prevention is at the heart of public health activities at home and abroad.”

EPHA aims to promote and protect the health interests of all people living in Europe and to strengthen the dialogue between the EU institutions, citizens and NGOs in support of healthy public policies.

Janice from Hall Green, Birmingham, is also RoSPA's representative on the European Child Safety Alliance, which campaigns for more action on child injury prevention.
