FREE CLINIC TO HELP SMALLER FIRMS WITH HEALTH AND SAFETY

Small and medium-sized companies can have their health and safety questions answered at a free advice clinic hosted by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents.

The Growing Business Clinic will run alongside the Safety and Health Expo at the NEC, Birmingham, on May 23.

Open to firms with fewer than 250 employees, it offers participants the opportunity to learn about key health and safety issues, including legislation, that are of particular relevance to expanding businesses. Visitors will be able to network with health and safety experts and fellow professionals, receive one-to-one advice and exchange ideas and experiences.

There will also be opportunities to win RoSPA prizes, including health and safety consultancy, one-day training courses, Driver Profiler software licences and annual licences for a web-based health and safety learning package, designed especially for growing businesses.

In addition, those attending the clinic will receive free entry (worth up to £282) to The Big Network, also run by RoSPA at the NEC on May 23, at which even more experts on a wide range of health and safety issues will be available to answer questions.

Roger Bibbings, RoSPA Occupational Safety Adviser, said: “Managing health and safety can appear a daunting task for smaller businesses, and many may fear that it requires a huge amount of time and resources.

“But the good news is that the underlying principles are actually quite straightforward. RoSPA’s Growing Business Clinic aims to help companies get to grips with these essentials at no cost and very little time.

“Participants can come along to learn about health and safety issues covering a wide range of sectors, but also to talk through their specific needs and problems with RoSPA experts and share their experiences with other professionals.

“With a fantastic range of prizes available and free entry to The Big Network, the event provides a great opportunity for growing businesses to tackle health and safety.”

The Growing Business Clinic will be open from 11.30am-2.30pm in the Gallery Suite at the NEC. Pre-booking is essential and terms and conditions apply. See www.rospa.com/growingbusiness/ for more information, or call 0121 248 2120 or e-mail events@rospa.com
