NEW TRAINING AND QUALITY MANAGER FOR RoSPA’S FLEET TEAM
Rick Wood has joined RoSPA’s Driver and Fleet Solutions team as Training and Quality Assurance Manager.
He will be responsible for the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents’ portfolio of training courses and resources for managing occupational road risk.
Rick has more than 20 years’ experience working in the qualified driver training arena. He began as an instructor at Silverstone Circuit before moving to Drive & Survive where he became Head of Training.
He said: “I am passionate about driving and road safety and this opportunity with RoSPA will enable me to make a difference to the risks associated with driving for work.
“We will play a leading role in new initiatives to help organisations manage occupational risk, such as the EU introduction of the Driver Certificate of Professional Competence for bus, coach and lorry drivers.
“There are proposals in the pipeline for the Continuing Professional Development for driving instructors. With RoSPA already providing entry qualification to the fleet driver training register via the National Diploma in Advanced Driving Instruction, CPD will be a natural extension of training and qualifications that will be available.”
Rick, of Binley Woods, Coventry, has maintained his qualification as a Grade 6 driving instructor, and has many advanced driving qualifications. He holds a licentiate membership from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
