31/03/04 : GROUP’S NEW WEBSITE TO TACKLE AT-WORK ROAD SAFETY

Nearly 70 organisations are behind a new website - www.orsa.org.uk - which has been launched to raise awareness of work-related road safety and to encourage businesses to manage at work-road risk more effectively. The Occupational Road Safety Alliance site has been developed with the support of the Department for Transport. It provides ORSA members and others in the road safety and occupational safety communities with access to up-to-the minute information and new developments about managing occupational road risk. 25/03/04 : RoSPA BACKS NEW PASSPORT TO SAFETY

RoSPA today announced its support for a new safety passport scheme for staff employed by organisations which are members of SAFed (the Safety Assessment Federation). The initiative launched at RoSPA’s Birmingham headquarters involves a partnership between the Society and SAFed, which represents companies that have a special role in inspecting safety-sensitive plant and installations. 18/03/04 : MINISTER SEEKS BETTER HEALTH AND SAFETY AT WORK

Safety Minister Des Browne will discuss the UK’s strategy for improving health and safety at work when he opens a national conference organised by the Royal Society for the Prevention on Accidents in May. 01/03/04 : TV STAR’S IDEA TO HELP BATTLE AGAINST FLEET CRASHES

Television personality and businessman Noel Edmonds is to use his experience in the video conferencing market to spearhead the battle to reduce the number of accidents involving company car and van drivers. Noel has launched a new video conferencing venture, face2face, a nationwide network of over 300 Video Meeting Rooms. He will use the latest technology to address RoSPA’s seminar on managing occupational road risk at the Watford Hilton, Hertfordshire, on April 21, from his Devon home. Full Story»

RoSPA’s new website for fleet managers has proved the growing commitment in the industry to put health and safety high on the agenda. RoSPA has rewarded local occupational health and safety groups for their commitment to making the workplace safer during 2003. The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents has over 80 of the groups located throughout the United Kingdom. They provide a local forum for communication between employers, educational establishments, local authorities, health and safety inspectors and trade unions. Full Story»


14/01/04 : LATEST INITIATIVE TO TACKLE FLEET DRIVER ACCIDENTS

RoSPA’s latest seminar on managing occupational road risk will look at everything from dealing with the dangers of drink and drugs to using new technology to reduce accidents among fleet drivers. 09/12/03 : DRINK-DRIVE CHRISTMAS BONUS FOR BOSSES FROM RoSPA

RoSPA is to give bosses free courses on the dangers of drinking and driving in an effort to keep employees and other road-users safe.
