Risk Assessment Best Practice one-day in-company course

According to health and safety legislation the main requirement for employers is to conduct suitable and sufficient risk assessments in all areas of employment. Risk assessments form the lynchpin of health and safety management and this occupational safety training course puts the emphasis on practical exercises, meaning that delegates will leave with the ability to perform risk assessments in their own organisations.

Aims and objectives:
To encourage delegates to consider the risk assessment process as the driver for continuous improvement in health and safety standards:

Through identifying an effective framework for managing health and safety
Through developing understanding of the risk assessment and control model outlined in BS18004:2008 ‘Annexe E’
Through exploring how to develop and apply hazard prompt lists, risk estimators and risk-based controls plans
Through defining the links between risk-based control plans and continuous improvement of health and safety performance.

Who is the course intended for?
Policy makers, planners and implementers of occupational health and safety management systems. Typically senior managers, safety advisers and worker representatives.

Prior knowledge:
Delegates should have a working knowledge of health and safety management systems.

Occupational health and safety management systems
Holistic health and safety management
Principles of risk assessment and risk control in practice
Risk assessment case study
Continual improvement in health and safety management
Post-course assignment assessment criteria.

Intended outcomes:
On successful completion and verification of the post-course assignment delegates will be issued with a RoSPA certificate of training.
