Safety Essentials in the Waste Management and Recycling Industry one-day in-company course
HSE Commissioned research found that fatality rates were over ten times the national average; and accident rates four times the national average within the waste management industry.
Over the last 10 years there have also been 18 fatal accidents to members of the public, most of which were associated with vehicles involved in waste collection activities. Continued poor performance relative to other industries means that waste management and recycling is regarded as a priority industry sector within HSE.
This one-day course is designed to tackle the causes of accidents and injuries.
Following on from the joint HSE/Waste Industry Safety and Health Forum good practice document (Health and Safety Training: Guidelines for the Waste Management and Recycling Industry) RoSPA would like to introduce you to our unique safety training courses and risk reduction solutions.
Aim and objectives:
- To provide a basic understanding of health and safety principles and practices to control risks during the collection, processing, sorting or disposal of waste
- To introduce HSE and industry-specific guidance and explore how it may be applied within an organisational context
- To signpost key sources of information to those involved in managing health and safety within the waste management and recycling industry.
