Work Equipment one-day in-company course

The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) states that all work equipment must meet essential safety requirements and safe systems of work must be established. Risks from work with display screen equipment must be assessed and controlled. There are still residual requirements in specific machinery type regulations e.g. woodworking machinery regulations, power press regulations etc.

This occupational safety training course will help delegates to understand the requirements of the regulations, and enable employers to meet their statutory obligations.

Here is a brief summary of the course content:

Aims and objectives:
On completion of this occupational safety training course delegates will understand:

The hazards and risks arising from the use of work equipment
The hazards and risks associated with the use of electrical equipment and systems operating at mains voltages
The measures that should be taken to minimise the risks.

Who is the course intended for?
This course is designed to introduce delegates to the general requirements for work equipment. It is suitable for people with responsibility for reducing the risks from the use of equipment - including line managers, supervisors and safety representatives.

Prior knowledge :
No prior knowledge required.

Pre-course preparation:
None.

Specific intended learning outcomes:

Scope, suitability and use of work equipment
Information, instruction, and training requirements
Maintenance and inspection requirements
Operation and emergency controls
Hand held tools-hazards and controls
Machinery-hazards and controls
Principles of electricity
Hazards of electricity
Control measures for electrical systems and equipment.

Qualification and certification
All delegates who successfully complete the course in full will be awarded the RoSPA certificate of training.
