IOSH Managing Safely Plus
Course objectives
To develop delegates knowledge and understanding of;
- How to manage health and safety issues within their workplace
- Their legal responsibilities
- How to integrate health safety and environmental management issues into their business, and the associated benefits of doing this
- Hazard identification and risk control strategies linked to common hazards; including fire, electricity, working at height, stress, noise, vibration, chemicals and workplace transport.
Who should attend?
This intensive course is intended for line managers and supervisors from all sectors, both public and private who require a broad-based knowledge of health and safety and safe systems of work.
Prior knowledge
An awareness of health and safety issues would be an advantage but is not essential.
Further information
The practical assessment must be completed in the delegate’s workplace and submitted within two weeks of completing the course.

- Understanding your responsibilities
- Health and safety management systems
- Assessing risks
- Controlling risks
- Measuring performance
- Protecting our environment
- Identifying Hazards; electricity, fire, chemicals and substances, noise and vibration, working at height and workplace transport, workplace (health, safety and welfare), work equipment, manual handling, stress & violence, first aid
- Accident causation, accident reporting and investigation
- Delegate practical assessment
- Delegate written exam
Qualification
All delegates who successfully complete the course in full and pass the exam and assessment will be awarded the IOSH Managing Safely Certificate.
Plus delegates will have the opportunity to attend the added value RoSPA Business Benefit Workshop.
RoSPA Business Benefit Workshop
Course objectives
On completion of this course, delegates will understand:
- The process and purpose of investigating accidents (incidents, cases of work related ill health and other occurrences)
- The legal and organisational requirements for recording and reporting such incidents
- How to prepare a business case for Managing Safely
Who should attend?
This intensive programme is for managers and supervisors who need to have the tools to initiate changes or improvements in their organisation.
Prior knowledge
IOSH Managing Safely (which could have been completed in the same week) or NEBOSH level 2.
Pre-course Preparation
To bring a specific workplace safety issue from the candidates business e.g. looking at lone worker issues or specific manual handling problems. This can be developed during the immediately preceding IOSH Managing Safely course.

- Prepare individual business case, which will be assessed on the day by the RoSPA consultant
Qualification and certification
Delegates who successfully complete the course in full and pass the assessment will be awarded the RoSPA Certificate.
