Error plays a significant part in nearly all accidents. Understanding errors, whether violations, mistakes or lapses and how they combine with other workplace factors is key to improving health and safety management. This occupational safety training course will provide delegates with practical guidance on instigating a sustainable change in workplace behaviour.

The course will be of particular interest to individuals who have completed the NEBOSH Diploma course and to qualified QSA auditors and their managers.

Course objectives
This course introduces delegates to applied behaviour analysis.

On completion of the course delegates will be able to:

  • Describe and apply key theories relating to effective behaviour management
  • Explain the importance of managing workplace consequences
  • Describe the ways in which behavioural compliance can be used in measuring health and safety performance
  • Describe key components of a successful behaviour change process
  • Understand how to implement behaviour change programmes within their organisation.

Those seeking to gain a clear and practical understanding of how effective behaviour change can be achieved and harnessed to promote a positive health and safety culture.

It will be of particular interest to those who have completed the NEBOSH Diploma course and to qualified QSA auditors and their managers.

Further information:
An appreciation of the need for continuous improvement and avoidance of the typical "safety plateau" would be an advantage. A good working knowledge of health and safety management systems would be a distinct advantage.

HSE publications HSG48 and HSG65 would be useful pre-course reading; as well as "Bringing out the Best in People" by Aubrey Daniels.
