The NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety is a globally-recognised qualification focusing on international standards and management systems, enabling candidates to effectively discharge workplace health and safety responsibilities in any employment sector, in all parts of the world.

This occupational safety training course helps managers, supervisors and staff from all types of organisation gain a broad understanding of key health and safety issues. The NEBOSH International General Certificate is also suitable for those embarking on a career in health and safety, providing a sound basis for progression on to the NEBOSH International Diploma.

Aim and Objectives

A new RoSPA safety training course.
  • To provide an understanding of health and safety principles and practices
  • To enable delegates to monitor safety performance in their workplace, investigate accidents effectively and assist in the design and implementation of safe systems of work and accident prevention programmes
  • To provide an appreciation of hazards associated with typical workplace activities, enabling employers to fulfill their occupational health and safety responsibilities
  • To assist management of safety within the workplace
  • To provide an opportunity for multi-national delegates to gain a common understanding of health and safety management techniques. 

Who is the course intended for?

This occupational health and safety training course is aimed at managers, supervisors and employees based outside the UK who require a broad knowledge and understanding of health and safety principles and practices.

Prior knowledge

No previous health and safety knowledge is required.  However it should be noted that the examination is offered, and must be answered, in English, and that the course includes a requirement to write a short report, which must also be in English.  NEBOSH recommends that candidates undertaking the NEBOSH International General Certificate should reach the equivalent of a scoring of 6.0 or higher under the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).

Course objectives:
This occupational safety training course aims to provide an understanding of health and safety principles and practices, to enable delegates to monitor safety performance in their workplace, investigate accidents effectively and assist in the design and implementation of safe systems of work and accident prevention programmes.

Qualification:
The qualification is divided into three units, each of which is assessed separately.

A Unit Certificate is issued denoting successful achievement of each unit. A Certificate Parchment is issued on successful completion of the two units.
