Safety and Health Foundations
Detailing the moral, legal and financial arguments for effective management of safety and health, this one-day course is the ideal starting point for a safety education. It introduces the concept of a health and safety management system and uses the HSE’s model, HSG65 (recognised by the International Labour Organisation as embodying best practice), as the basis from which to build.
Safety and Health Management
This course examines the importance of setting health and safety policy and advises on key features and appropriate content. Health and safety roles and responsibilities throughout an organisation are covered and relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, clients and contractors are also discussed. The importance of consultation with employees and the significance of culture in the management of safety and health are also addressed.
Monitoring, Audit and Review
This course considers the need continually to measure and review safety performance both re-actively, following an accident or incident, and pro-actively, (via inspections for example). Towards the end of the course delegates are able to apply newfound theoretical knowledge as they complete a practical exercise in which they carry out a workplace inspection and then write a report outlining and prioritising the hazards and suggesting suitable control measures.
Risk Assessment
Under health and safety legislation the main requirement for employers is to conduct suitable and sufficient risk assessments. Indeed, risk assessments form the lynchpin of health and safety management. This course has recently been re-vamped to increase the emphasis on practical exercises, meaning that delegates will leave with the ability to perform risk assessments in their own organisations.
Principles of Control
This new one-day course is designed for those who have a sound understanding of the risk assessment purpose and process. It builds upon this knowledge to introduce ways in which to control and reduce risks once they have been identified.
Accident Investigation
Effective accident investigation is not only a moral and legal duty, it also represents sound commercial sense, as identifying and addressing the root causes of accidents guards against future incidents. A thorough investigation of an accident is also a positive visible demonstration of your commitment to safety. This recently re-vamped course incorporates new HSE guidance.
