RoSPA Play Quality Awards : Operator Awards.IMPORTANT GUIDANCE NOTES
The overall awards round begins in January each year the closing date for entries is 31st March.

Entrants are required to make a concise submission indicating the steps they have taken to ensure continuing excellence in their management of health and safety. Whilst they can make their submission in any way they deem appropriate, they are strongly encouraged to demonstrate how they have sought to implement the guidance contained in EN1176, PAS30, BS EN 14974:2006 , BS8409 (as appropriate). The judges require objective information to enable them to form a clear view of the integrity and performance of the applicant’s accident management. In addition certain mandatory information must be supplied including details of all playground accidents and of any enforcement action taken against the operator (including information relating to contractors etc). Entrants must also furnish information on the results of health and safety management system audits, improvements with reference to other key H&S performance indicators, details of occupational health programmes, contributions to ‘good neighbouring’ and working with ‘intermediaries’. Where the applicant has not been having regular annual inspections from RoSPA a visit by a RoSPA inspector will be necessary.

It is recognised that, on even the best regulated play area, accidents will occur. The evidence of accidents will not preclude an award. RoSPA will be looking for evidence that any accidents that have occurred are not as a result of failures on behalf of the operator.
