ESOL Key Stage 2 Road Safety Resource is a road safety education resource for use with Key Stage 2 children whose first language is not English. The road safety messages are provided in English, Bengali, Urdu, Punjabi and Polish.

The use of assemblies with a road safety theme can help to reinforce learning, help the children reflect and discuss incidents/accidents, meet people who can help them and explore the moral implications of their actions in various situations.

Theatre in Education

Theatre-in-Education (TiE) is often used to convey road safety education in schools.

S'Cool to be Safe

S'Cool to be Safe was a national TiE project, sponsored by Toyota, focusing on areas of everyday life where children could be in danger, with an emphasis on road safety. Annual tours were delivered from 1999- 2002. The final tour was the subject of a formal evaluation.

Dramatic Impact (PDF 199kb) Guidelines for commissioning and implementing TiE for road safety officers and other professionals - was published in March 2003 and provides comprehensive information for those considering using TiE in schools.
