RoSPA's Road Safety Work: Helping Employers

Helping Employers

Driving is the most dangerous work activity that most people do. RoSPA began the campaign to promote the issue of the Management of Occupational Road Risk in 1996. As a member of the Government’s Work Related Road Safety Task Group, we helped to establish a national strategy on work-related road safety, including the development of the HSE guidance for employers on their duties to manage risk on the road, which states that “health and safety law applies to on-the-road work activities as to all work activities and the risks should be effectively managed within a health and safety system”.

  • Guidance for Employers
RoSPA produces a wide range of free good practice advice for employers, including "Driving for Work" guides and a Driving for Work film. Other services include seminars and training courses for employers and managers.
  • Driver Development Training
RoSPA’s network of highly qualified fleet driver trainers, combined with accreditations from British Standards, the Driving Standards agency, Edexcel, Driver CPC and OCR, provide a wide range of driver and rider assessment and training schemes, covering all types of vehicles.
  • Accreditation
RoSPA’s Accreditation Scheme offers organisations the opportunity to demonstrate that their courses adhere to an accepted standard, and provides added credibility through the widely recognised and respected RoSPA brand.
  • Awards
RoSPA MORR Awards reward excellence and encourage improvement. Any organisation can enter the RoSPA Management of Occupational Road Risk Awards. Entrants need to demonstrate robust risk management systems and culture, as well as an improving work-related road accident record.
  • Online Tools
RoSPA’s online tools provide a simple and cost-effective way to identify 'at risk' drivers and prioritise training needs and to provide e-learning.
