Evaluation
Participant Surveys
The following surveys are based on those used in the pilot workshops and are included here as one suggestion for how you can evaluate your own workshops. The surveys below are Pre-workshop (MS Word 48kb) and Post-workshop (MS Word 55kb).
It is suggested that the pre- survey be completed by the delegate soon before the start of the workshop, with the post-survey to be completed approximately six weeks afterwards. Allowing a time-gap of six weeks post workshop enables a reasonable time period for delegates to report retained attitude or behaviour change.
To be able to match individual pre and post responses you will need to ask delegates to fill in a unique identifying code on the pre and post surveys (each individual’s code must be the same for both surveys). A code is recommended as delegates may feel inhibited to be honest if their names are entered on the survey responses. An example of a unique identifying code could be their Mother’s initials and the first three letters of their town of birth.
The surveys can be emailed to delegates either as a word attachment to be printed off and returned anonymously, or as a link to an electronic survey using software such as:
SNAP (www.snapsurveys.com) or
Survey Monkey (www.surveymonkey.com).
If emailing is not convenient then post-workshop surveys could be attached to wages and/or wage-slips close to six weeks after the workshop date.
Questions can be amended to suit the particular focus of each workshop.
Presenter’s Self-Evaluation
The young drivers at work workshops are based on self-reflection. Self-reflection is also an important means for developing your own skills as the presenter of the workshops.
Included here is an example Self-evaluation Form (PDF 64kb) which you can use to monitor and review how well you feel each workshop goes. By completing the forms after every workshop you can keep track of how your experience of delivering the workshop changes. You can use this record of experience to consider new methods of delivery to try and improve future workshop sessions.
The form can be adapted to suit your own needs.
