If you're an employer looking to make sure that the NEBOSH National General Certificate delivers a return on your investment, or an employee seeking to make a business case for the safety training budget then look no further as we've outlined the key reasons why the National General Certificate is good for business.

  • Qualified safety professionals are an asset to their organisations, reducing costs by preventing accidents and ill health of employees, without incurring unnecessary expense by over-reacting to trivial risks
  • The NEBOSH National General Certificate is the most widely held health and safety qualification in the UK. It is well respected and often requested by employers.
  • The NEBOSH Certificate enables the holder to apply for membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) at Technician level (TechIOSH), which in turn adds credibility and demonstrates the seriousness with which an organisation views safety to its stakeholders
  • The NEBOSH General Certificate safety training course helps managers, supervisors and staff from all types of organisation gain a broad understanding of key health and safety issues. Many people undertake this qualification as a first step in a career in health and safety as it provides a valuable overview and sound basis for further professional study
  • The NEBOSH Certificate safety training course provides an understanding of health and safety legislation to enable delegates to monitor safety performance in their workplace, investigate accidents effectively and assist in the design and implementation of safe systems of work and accident prevention programmes. It also provides an appreciation of hazards associated with typical workplace activities, enabling delegates to fulfil their occupational health and safety responsibilities and assist with management of safety within the workplace
  • Many larger organisations choose the NEBOSH National General Certificate as a key part of their supervisors' or management development programme. By ensuring that line managers have a sound understanding of the principles of risk management they build an effective safety culture in the company. Smaller organisations, operating in lower risk environments, often choose the NEBOSH National General certificate as the appropriate qualification for the manager taking the lead on health and safety issues
  • The modular qualification structure and variety of available course formats enables candidates and employers to arrange training around the needs of the business. RoSPA also offer in-company courses, to allow the inclusion of material specifically relevant to the organisation's workplace
