• Actively supervise all young children near water
• Teach children never to swim alone
• Be cautious about booking villas that do not have safety fencing (which should stop young children accessing the pool without your help).

Inflatables bought for use in swimming pools or sheltered inland water are not suitable for use at UK beaches. This is particularly true for surf beaches in the South West and along the east coast where prevailing westerly winds and strong tides mean that the danger of being swept away is greatly increased.

RoSPA recommend that families visit supervised beaches, where lifeguards are on hand to give safety advice and reassurance.
