Using a mobile phone while at the wheel makes you four times more likely to crash, and from February 27 drivers caught using hand-held mobile phones will get three points on their licence.  Employers have a responsibility to protect their employees and other road users by having policies in place to ban the use of mobiles while driving for business. Indeed, bosses could be in trouble under health and safety laws if an investigation showed the use of a phone contributed to an accident.

The study, funded by the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), aims to build up a picture of the different methods for improving health and safety at work throughout the UK.
