Global Road Safety Week Support

With Global Road Safety Week running between 23rd - 29th April make sure you have the tools to support your activities. RoSPA produce a wide range of comprehensive road safety resources aimed at supporting safer driving, safer cycling and safer pedestrians. So no matter who you are targeting RoSPA will have the resource to help you spread the safety message. 

This week, the first of its kind, is an opportunity to raise the issue of road traffic injuries to a higher level. There’s No Place Like Home

According to the HSE, the number of people working from home is on the increase.

However, as an employer don’t be caught out. Most of the regulations made under the Health and Safety at Work Act apply to home workers, as well as employees working at an employer’s workplace. First and foremost you must undertake a risk assessment of work activities carried out by home workers. Some common hazards to look for in There's No Place Like Home clude:

Volunteer Driver's Handbook

RoSPA's Volunteer Driver's Handbook is a new resource written for volunteer drivers, to highlight their duties and legal responsibilities. The handbook ensures the safety of the drivers and their passengers’ by following the policies set out by their voluntary organisation. It inclVolunteer Driver's Handbookudes advice on:

  • The importance of safe driving
  • Issues for the voluntary sector
  • Driver impairment (fatigue, drink, drugs, eyesight, fitness,
    mobile phones, etc)
  • Vehicle condition
  • Speed management
  • Route planning and weather conditions

The handbook should be used in conjunction with the organisation's own policies, by encouraging drivers to check the detail of their policies and write them into the spaces provided in the booklet. It is small enough to carry in the vehicle and is available to download for free on RoSPA’s website.  Voluntary organisations are also invited to request complimentary printed copies by simply emailing their requirements to : dvernon@rospa.com
