School Trips – Getting the Balance Right |
 As the season of summer school trips approaches it is vital that those involved in managing and organising them , are aware of the necessary ratio of pupils to adult supervisors.
There are a number of factors, which must be taken into consideration, from the sex and the age of the group and the type of accommodation to the nature of the activities and the experience of the adults in off-site supervision.

Manual Handling – Top Priority for Businesses |
At the recent Safety and Health Expo, RoSPA asked visitors at the stand what were their top health and safety concerns. Almost half of respondents ranked manual handling as their top health and safety concern. This was followed closely by, workplace transport and slips, trips and falls.

RoSPA welcomes the launch of the HSE’s Dodgy Ladder Amnesty, in an attempt to reduce accidents. It is aimed mainly at tradesmen and offers discounts on new ladders to people who take their old ones in to exchange them.
