Leading the way

Baroness Gibson of Market Rasen Parliamentary group to champion accident prevention

RoSPA’s President is helping to provide a voice for the relatives of the 12,000 people killed in accidents in the UK each year and millions more who suffer injuries.

An influential new all-party parliamentary group has been formed to champion the cause of accident prevention, and RoSPA’s President, Baroness Gibson of Market Rasen, has been elected chairman of the group.

Baroness Gibson has also written to the Prime Minister seeking the appointment of a minister with responsibility for accident prevention.

To read Baroness Gibson’s comments on the “fragmented” approach of the government towards accident prevention and the need to “unite the different elements under central government leadership”, please visit our website.

Auditing Spotlight part 2: Who Should Carry Out An Audit?

Who Should Carry Out An Audit? The questions you have always wanted answered on this vital topic.

In the last edition of Safety Connections, the Spotlight section focused on auditing, and provided a free online article entitled ‘Why Audit?’

This week we offer a free article entitled ‘Who Should Carry Out An Audit?’. Please click to view this on our website.

Many companies prefer to bring in an experienced external consultant, valuing the fact that the person is truly independent of the area and activities being audited. However whether an external or internal solution is favoured, this article explains the crucial competencies needed by an auditor, and looks at the option of having one of your staff trained to be a RoSPA accredited auditor.

Here at RoSPA we have many years of auditing experience, as well as being trainers of company employees, enabling them to be a RoSPA accredited auditor.

Our auditing consultancy services are well established within a wide range of sectors, as we aim to promote the principle of continuous improvement in health and safety management in workplaces across the country.
