Congratulations to Recent QSA Award Winners! |
RoSPA's Quality Safety Audit system is unique in having its own award scheme to reflect and reward an organisation's success following an audit. RoSPA recently honoured the achievements of organisations gaining an award, most notably Siemens Energy Systems and Yeo Valley Farms Ltd, both of which achieved a prestigious, and unsurpassable, Level 5 Diamond Award.
Shown here collecting her award, June Worster of Siemens said: 'This QSA Level 5 Award represents our dedication to continually improving safety. We have worked with RoSPA for a number of years and have found the QSA audit system to be rigorous and in-depth but hugely beneficial. This is an achievement of which we are justifiably proud.'
A key benefit of the QSA system is that those achieving Level 4 or 5 will receive a more favourable premium from leading insurance provider AIG UK Ltd.: 'At AIG UK Ltd. we recognise good health and safety management standards and we reflect this in the premium quote for those customers who have achieved a level 4 Platinum or above of the RoSPA Quality Safety Audit System.'

Safe Home for Me – Online Safety Tool |
A new online accident prevention resource www.safehome4me.com has been launched for children aged 3-7 years old.
Developed by the Southern Health and Social Care Trust, the website has been designed for pre-school and primary school settings but can also be used at home to raise awareness of accident prevention.
Through a series of interactive games and watch and learn sequences, the website introduces children to behavioural, product and environmental risk factors that can lead to common home accidents.
The resource was developed in partnership with a range of health and education professionals including RoSPA representatives. It seeks to convey safety information to young children on the following types of home accidents:
- Trampoline accidents
- Poisoning accidents
- Burns and scalds
- Falling and crashing accidents
- Ear, nose and mouth accidents
This fun resource will help children develop attitudes and behaviours around keeping themselves safe, keeping others safe and knowing what to do if an accident happens. To find out more click here.

Travel Training: Key Stages 3 and 4
|
The older children get, the more likely they are to die or be injured on the roads. Traffic is one of the biggest killers of 12-16 year olds in the UK.
It is at this age that children begin to venture beyond the boundaries of home and school, and start to use public transport on their own, as well as travelling on foot. Travel training lessons will benefit these students, especially as finding your way around on buses and trains can be a challenge even for seasoned travellers!
This training package is relevant to professionals or other individuals or groups with an interest in the welfare of young people – including teachers, PHSE co-ordinators, work experience co-ordinators, road safety officers, school travel plan co-ordinators, police officers and Travelwise officers.
The resource contains dedicated worksheets covering a range of topics and issues associated with independent travel. There are also brief teaching notes for each worksheet. This resource is aimed at helping to meet Government targets for significantly reducing the number of people killed or seriously injured in road accidents by 2010.
