Core Criteria e-Learning Kit for Managing Health and Safety

RoSPA has worked with key organisations to establish a set of core criteria which will be widely recognised as a benchmark of achievement in health and safety. This is particularly addressed at simplifying the huge variety of health and safety pre-qualification schemes which can baffle small business.

RoSPA has developed a suite of services to help companies that are seeking a one-stage health and safety pre-qualification which highlights the core issues.

The Easter bank holiday launches the DIY season as people begin to repair and rejuvenate their homes after the ravages of winter.Top DIY Tips

It also heralds the beginning of the renovation season, with homeowners revamping rooms in time for spring and summer. And if the weather is good, work will be starting outside in gardens too!

Unfortunately, more than 200,000 DIY enthusiasts turn up at hospital accident and emergency rooms each year – and many of the causes are easily avoided. To avoid becoming an accident statistic this Easter, follow these simple guidelines:

  • Be realistic, and don’t tackle a job unless you really know what you’re doing
  • Always plan ahead to avoid accidents when you’re in a rush
  • Stop and disconnect all electrical appliances and tools before working on them
  • Ensure that all tools, paint and chemicals are kept safely out of the reach of children
  • Take extra care with sharp cutting tools
  • Keep any tools clean and in good repair
  • Keep children and pets away when carrying out DIY jobs
  • Keep all products, such as paint strippers, in their original containers

RoSPA’s new website can provide you with a wealth of advice and information on safety in the home and in the garden – so visit us today, and keep you and your family safe over Easter.

Click here to go to the topEmergency Driving Course - New from RoSPA!

Road accidents involving vehicles being driven at high speed for emergency purposes have been the subject of a great deal of bad press in recent years. These headline-making incidents have called into question the training given to emergency drivers.

New Emergency Driving CourseRoSPA has developed this Emergency Driving Course in response to Section 19 of the Road Safety Act 2006, which states that any driver wishing to use the speed limit exemption must undergo compulsory training.

RoSPA recognises that many drivers already have prior learning experience and many have already received some form of additional driver training. All delegates are therefore required to undergo an initial assessment where driving skills are assessed against 12 core criteria. Any gaps in knowledge or technique will then be rectified via a personalised training programme*.

If you employ drivers who drive in emergency situations, don’t get caught out – make sure your drivers comply with the law.

Contact us today and find out more about this unique course.

*It is stressed that all on-road training will be conducted within posted speed limits as no provision currently applies for non-statutory emergency services to train at high speeds.
