Home Safety Framework
A home safety framework has been produced to address the imbalance between road and home safety education. The curriculum framework supports the teaching of home safety in schools and comprises of lesson plans and associated resources. Here you can download a copy of the framework.

Developing good practice guidelines for teaching children about safety The LASER (Learning About Safety by Experiencing Risk) Project began at RoSPA in April 1999. This three-year project, funded by the Department of Health, ultimately aims to establish good practice guidelines for interactive safety education schemes for children such as Crucial Crew or Junior Citizen. These ‘LASER’ schemes have proliferated throughout the whole of the UK since 1986 when the first Junior Citizen was established in London. Such initiatives now attract some of the greatest efforts in accident prevention education for 9-11 year old children.

Report on programmes within Health Action Zones looking at accident and injury prevention
Health Action Zones have been established by the Government to tackle health inequalities through local community innovation in areas of deprivation and poor health. They were set up between 1998 and 1999 and will run for seven years.
There are 26 full and ten associated Health Action Zones throughout England. They have two strategic objectives:
- To identify and address the public health needs of the local area
- To modernise services by increasing effectiveness, efficiency and responsiveness

New online resources for PSHE teachers
The new PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) website area on TeacherNet is a dedicated learning and development resource for teachers of PSHE and Citizenship – www.teachernet.gov.uk/pshe Whether you are an experienced PSHE teacher or about to face your first PSHE lesson, this is the site for you. This exciting resource contains a flexible, interactive tool to help identify your development needs; a signpost to 'learning pathways' offering a wide range of learning options; a database of resources; and the opportunity to share ideas, seek advice and contribute your own good practice through the bulletin board.
