Child Seats and Seat Belts : New Laws

From 18th September 2006, children under 12 years and under 135cm (4' 5") in height travelling in cars have been required to use an appropriate child restraint, with few exceptions – the previous ‘if available’ loophole has disappeared. Passengers in minibuses, buses and coaches that have seatbelts fitted are also required to wear those seatbelts, and operators are required to notify passengers that seatbelts must be used.
These are significant changes for many people, so it is essential that the details are
promoted as widely and accurately as possible.
